The stormy clouds inched lazily across the gray sky. Waiting…waiting. I gazed up with unfocused eyes thinking only, “How utterly boring.” The cement felt coarse to my fingers as I dragged myself up, staring at the numerous lines of people all milling about; the hum of murmuring voices drifting through the air like leaves slowly swirling through the wind. There was a sudden roar of sound and I glanced up to the front of the line where the radio D.J. was stirring up the crowd. “Let’s hear some noise!” “YEAH!”

My hand found its grip on the cup of iced mocha next to me and I slowly sipped on it, looking around for my friend Carin. I stood up and felt the cool steel of a lightsaber slip into my hand. I brought it up to my face and studied the distorted image of myself, studying me just as closely. A shock of electric blue against pale skin and golden brown hair. I sucked my breath in sharply as a splash of moisture hit my nose-- another couple droplets falling on the ground-- and more, until the ground was soaking. I ducked under an umbrella set up next to my chair and watched as the rest of the throng took to shelter and then calmly resumed playing Star Wars Monopoly, Star Wars Chess, and Star Wars Video Games.

I sighed with annoyance and threw one last look to see if I could spot Carin and then flopped listlessly back onto the chair. Waiting…Waiting. I rolled my eyes around as my stare became fuzzy and my daydream began.

A clash of lightning against a stormy landscape and two lightsabers collided into each other, the ozone burning and steam coming off from where the rain hit. The two figures that wielded them spinning and blocking with a whirl of color and -- I was jolted awake. “That was short.” I snorted and crossed my arms over my chest, giving a look of subtle anger at the person who interrupted me; only to find it had been my umbrella falling over. I blew out a moan of frustration and carefully set it back up when a wave of excitement ran through me like fire. I spun around and could instantly feel the change in the atmosphere; like charged lightning. All eyes were staring through the drizzling rain towards a hulking black figure. I felt my breath leave my body and my eyes widen with shock and disbelief. It was him; Darth Vader. I shuddered as the electronic breathing reached my ears and abruptly, it was over. The crowd started to cheer as the Vader figure walked up and stood in line. A devilish smile crossed my face as did a dash of longing. Another sigh escaped my lips as I settled back down to try another attempt at sleeping. Waiting…waiting. Only six hours to go.
